Bright to Flight: «VANITY Fashion/Photography from the F.C. Gundlach Collection»

As you already understood, when we travel, we visit also as well as houses many interesting places and exhibitions! And, of course, in Vienna we visited not only the museums devoted to the history of the city and the Habsburg family, but also the exhibitions devoted to a fashion. At this time in Vienna in Kunsthalle Wien have passed two exhibitions: there is «VANITY Fashion/Photography from the F.C. Gundlach Collection» and the second is «No Fashion, Please»! We would like to tell you today about exhibition «VANITY Fashion/Photography from the F.C. Gundlach Collection», and we will tell you about the second in the near future!

More than 200 works has been presented at the exhibition from the collection F.C. Gundlach, and many of them have impressed us. The exhibition covers almost the entire XX-th century and the beginning of the XXI-st century, it reflects the history fashion photos from the 1920th years until today. Each photo is reflected the spirit of the age, especially, it is well shown in photos of Levinstein, which made from 1955 to 1975. He photographed women in New York and San Francisco during this period of time, in clothes of that time with their huge hats, sometimes from a back, and these photos could not be better reflect our modern world, and they are very similar to photos of modern bloggers. By the way, here there is an exposition part «The Sartorialist», which is devoted to street fashion our time. There is a huge photograph of modern humans from the streets, which are made in Paris, London and New York. Here you can see the covers of magazines Vogue and Bazaar from 1935 to 2011. Photographs by Armin Morbach from a series of "Overdose" are presented at an exhibition, in a separate part of an exposition are printed in the magazine, if it is fair they look even more delightful and interesting in the magazine. We met here photo «Laura. The explosion of powder» by Kristian Schuller, which we have loved in Moscow and we saw some other beautiful works of this photographer. The exhibition can also see Richard Avedon’s photos, the most memorable is a stunningly beautiful woman in embraces of a snake of 1981. There are a lot of Zoe Leonard's photos, Armin Morbach and many others, almost all photos of these photographers we already saw in August in Moscow at the exhibition «More than a fashion!» But nevertheless we have made a lot of discoveries for ourselves! One of them was the photo «Eva Padberg» of 2010, on which a woman dressed in a very unusual and challenging T-shirt decorated with the likeness of a woman's breasts. Many photos have been specially created for magazines Vogue and Elle, the most interesting series of them are «Untitled» (December, 1977) by Guy Bourdin, in photos little girl models, which are amaze with the spontaneity and beauty, probably, someone of them became a famous model in the fashion world. We have given special attention to black-and-white fashionable photos, in photos of 1930 is a lot of actresses, we have met and a photo of 1955 familiar to us, there is «Dovima with elephants», which has been created by Richard Avedon, you've probably seen it too. The photo was published once in magazine Harper's Bazaar, it is a symbolic photo for the Home Dior, because model dressed in an evening dress on it, which is designed for Christian Dior and this dress was made by Yves Saint Laurent. The photo is remembered for aristocratic beauty of model in an elegant evening dress by Dior and it contrasts the backdrop of huge and dirty elephants. We couldn't pass by interesting photos of 1967 from the collection F.C. Gundlach, they have amazed us with brightness, and especially a background, which seems realistic, but on closer examination you understand that the sky can't be the yellow and clouds can't be such accurate. Stunning girls in very modern dress of 60th years are embodied on a very bright background in the environment of dreamy clouds. I would like to finish the fact that is better to see all these photos your eyes and you will receive your impressions! But in the life is a lot of but … =))

For ourselves we have noticed that when come on the exhibition abroad, we have absolutely other impression, I cannot tell better or worse it, but we perceived all differently! =))

P.S.: Photos are not many, shooting is prohibited! There were very few people, in my opinion, there was more security than the visitors! =)) But nevertheless, we have something to show you! Как Вы уже поняли, когда мы путешествуем, мы также как и дома посещаем много интересных мест и выставок! И, конечно, в Вене мы посетили не только музеи, посвященные истории города и роду Габсбургов, но и выставки, посвященные моде. В это время в Вене в Kunsthalle Wien проходило две выставки: «VANITY Fashion/Photography from the F.C. Gundlach Collection» и вторая – это «No Fashion, Please»! О выставке VANITY Fashion/Photography from the F.C. Gundlach Collection» мы бы хотели рассказать Вам сегодня, а о второй - в ближайшее время!

На выставке было представлено более 200 работ из коллекции F.C. Gundlach, и многие из них нас впечатлили. Экспозиция охватывает почти весь ХХ век и начало ХХI века, она отражает историю фэшн-фото с 1920-х годов до сегодняшнего дня. В каждой фотографии отражен дух времени, особенно, это хорошо показано в фотографиях Левинштейна, сделанных с 1955 года по 1975 год. Он фотографировал женщин в Нью-Йорке и Сан-Франциско в этот период времени, в одежде того времени с их огромными шляпами, иногда со спины, и эти фотографии как нельзя лучше отражают наш современный мир, и они очень похожи на фотографии современных блоггеров. Кстати, здесь есть часть экспозиции «The Sartorialist», которая посвящена streetfashion нашего времени. На огромной стене развешены фотографии современных людей с улицы, которые сделаны в Париже, Лондоне и Нью-Йорке. Здесь же можно увидеть обложки журналов Vogue и Bazaar с 1935 года по 2011 год. Фотографии Армина Морбаха из серии «Передозировка», которые представлены на выставке, в отдельной части экспозиции представлены напечатанными в журнале, если честно в журнале они выглядят еще более восхитительными и интересными. Встретили мы здесь и полюбившуюся нам в Москве фотографию Кристин Шуллер «Лаура. Взрыв пудры» и увидели еще несколько прекрасных работ этого фотографа. На выставке также можно увидеть фотографии Ричарда Аведона, самая запоминающаяся - потрясающе красивая женщина Настасья Имски в объятьях змеи 1981 года. Много фотографий Зои Леонард, Армина Морбаха и многих других, практически все фотографии этих фотохудожников мы уже видели в августе в Москве на выставке «Больше, чем мода!», но тем не менее сделали мы для себя и много открытий! Одним из них была фотография «Eva Padberg» 2010 года, где женщина одета в очень необычную и вызывающую майку, декорированную подобием женской груди. Многие фотографии на выставке были специально созданы для журналов Vogue и Elle, самая интересная серия из них «Untitled» (Декабрь, 1977) от Guy Bourdin, на фотографиях маленькие девчушки модели, которые поражают своей непосредственностью и красотой, возможно, кто-то из них стал известной моделью в мире моды. Особое внимание мы уделили черно-белым модным фотографиям, на фотографиях 1930 годов много актрис, встретили мы и знакомую нам фотографию 1955 года «Dovima with elephants», которая была создана Ричардом Аведоном, вы наверняка видели ее тоже. Опубликована фотография была один раз в журнале Harper`s Bazaar, это знаковая фотография для Дома Dior, потому что модель на ней в вечернем платье, предназначенном для Christian Dior, которое сделал Ив Сен-Лоран. Фотография запоминается тем, что она довольно симметричная и аристократическая красота модели в элегантном вечернем платье от Dior контрастирует на фоне гигантских и грязных слонов. Не смогли мы пройти мимо интересных фотографий 1967 года из коллекции F.C. Gundlach, они поразили нас яркостью для того времени, и особенно фоном, который из далека кажется реалистичным, но при ближайшем рассмотрении ты понимаешь, что небо желтым быть не может и облака такими аккуратными тоже. Потрясающие девушки в очень современных костюмах 60-х годов запечатлены на очень ярком фоне в окружение мечтательных облаков. Хотелось бы закончить тем, что лучше видеть все эти фотографиями своими глазами и получить свои впечатления! Но в жизни много но…=))

Для себя мы отметили, что когда приходишь на выставку заграницей у тебя совсем другое впечатление, не могу сказать лучше или хуже оно, но воспринимаешь ты все иначе!=))

P.S.: Фотографий не много, съемка запрещена! На выставке было очень мало народу, по-моему, охраны там было больше, чем посетителей! =)) Но тем не менее нам есть, что Вам показать!
